Enquam honesta

This motet opens with a text expressing the beauty and fellowship of brothers dwelling together in unity, a prayer for God's blessing. The composer is anonymous, but the music, scored for six voices (SAATBB), is clearly in the tradition of sacred Renaissance part-music. The Latin text is a variant of the opening words of Psalm 133, a passage often set to music. The contrapuntal writing and the rich sonority of the six-part texture combine to create an atmosphere of profound peace and divine harmony, making it a fitting choice for liturgical occasions or a rewarding study for an advanced choir.
