El baile

This spirited setting of a Spanish folk song captures the lively atmosphere of a village dance. The text, sung in the original Spanish, tells of a young woman who playfully rejects unwanted attention, declaring her preference for a suitor who knows how to charm her with gifts rather than dance invitations. She recounts how, at the dance, she lost a ribbon from her hair, but gained a new love. The SATB arrangement brings this charming narrative to life, making it an ideal choice for a concert celebrating folk traditions or for adding a touch of Spanish flair to a diverse program.
