Ein fest Burg by Martin Agricola — Lyrics
1. Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott,
Ein gute Wehr und Waffen.
Er hilft uns frei aus aller Not,
Die uns jetzt hat betroffen.
Der alt böse Feind,

About Ein fest Burg
This setting of Martin Luther's famous hymn Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott for STB voices opens with a robust musical depiction of the hymn's theme. The German text expresses unwavering faith in God as a fortress and defense against the 'old evil foe,' the devil, and the 'prince of this world.' The music effectively conveys the steadfastness and strength inherent in the lyrics, with the three voices creating a rich and full sound. It describes the confidence that comes from knowing God is on our side, even when surrounded by evil and facing apparent defeat. The setting is a powerful testament to the enduring message of the hymn.
