About Egredimini et videte a 8
This is a grand motet for double choir, originally conceived for eight voices by Andrea Gabrieli. Sung in Latin, the text is a jubilant exultation, bidding the daughters of Zion to behold their Queen. It describes her beauty, admired by the very stars, sun, and moon, and culminates in the praise of all the children of God. The text is suitable for Marian feasts or occasions celebrating the Virgin Mary's queenship. Its eight-part writing, in two SATB choirs, creates a magnificent sonority, perfect for a large sanctuary or festival setting, where its rich, antiphonal textures can be fully realised.
