Egredimini by Samuel Friedrich Capricornus — Lyrics
About Egredimini
Samuel Friedrich Capricornus was a composer active in the mid-17th century, a period rich in sacred music. Egredimini is a motet for three sopranos, sung in Latin. The text, drawn from scripture, invites the daughters of Zion to behold their queen, a figure praised by the stars and admired by the sun and moon. It is a jubilant and exultant text, amplified by the alleluia at its close. The setting for three sopranos allows for intricate vocal interplay and a bright, soaring sonority, perfectly suited to the text's elevated and celebratory message.
