Educ me O Domine

The composer Christian Hollander sets a plea for divine guidance and protection in this sacred motet. The Latin text implores: 'Educ me O Domine Deus' – 'Educate me, O Lord God' – asking to be delivered from the snares of death and the fear of its approach. The music unfolds with a palpable sense of human frailty, as the composer illustrates the text's imagery of trembling spirits falling upon the servant, who then seeks refuge 'sub umbra alarum' – 'under the shadow of your wings'. Scored for SATTB voices, this motet offers a rich, polyphonic setting that responds expressively to the profound spiritual yearning of the text.
