About Ecce vicit Leo

This powerful motet for double SATB choir, Ecce vicit Leo, draws its text from the Book of Revelation. The Latin lyrics proclaim the worthiness of the Lamb who was slain to open the sealed book and break its seven seals. The music vividly portrays the unfolding vision, with the two choirs often responding to each other, building to moments of overwhelming grandeur. The text speaks of Christ's triumph and his divine attributes: power, divinity, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing. It is a fitting piece for Eastertide or any occasion celebrating Christ's victory over death and sin.
