Ecce Maria genuit

This motet would be particularly fitting for Advent or Christmas services. Its Latin text, drawn from scripture and tradition, proclaims the birth of Christ, with the choir exclaiming, 'Behold, a Virgin has borne us a Savior!' and 'Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.' Michael Praetorius, a master of the German sacred music tradition, crafts this setting for a substantial choir of SSSA plus TTTB. The work's rich eight-part texture allows for majestic, resonant sonorities, ideal for conveying the profound significance of the Nativity and the prophetic anticipation of Christ's role.
