Easter Wings by Crys Armbrust — Lyrics
Lord, who createdst man in wealth and store,
though foolishly he lost the same,
decaying more and more,
till he became
most poore:
with thee, O let me rise
As larks, harmoniously,
and sing this day thy victorie:
Then shall the fall further the flight in me.

About Easter Wings
This devotional anthem for SA and AT voices sets a reflective English text, famously shaped into the form of wings. The lyrics explore themes of creation, human frailty, and redemption, drawing a parallel between the spiritual fall and the potential for a renewed, higher flight with divine assistance. The music aims to capture the poem's introspective and ultimately hopeful message, offering a poignant setting of these profound spiritual reflections. The composer's setting reflects the text's journey from poverty and sickness towards an uplifting union and victory.
