Donne leggiadre

This setting of Donne leggiadre by Girolamo Conversi is a secular madrigal for SATTB choir. The text, in Italian, speaks directly to women who follow love, asking them to look upon the singer's wounds and tell the cruel beast that it is wrong to cause his death. Conversi’s music likely mirrors the passionate plea, offering a chance for singers to explore the dramatic text through rich, five-part harmony. This work is suitable for a concert program looking to showcase the expressive possibilities of Renaissance polyphony.
