About Domus pudici pectoris
Heinrich Finck was a German composer of the late Renaissance. This sacred motet is set for SATB choir in Latin. The text is a Marian hymn, tracing the miraculous conception and birth of Jesus. It begins with the hymn A solis ortus cardine, a famous Advent hymn attributed to Coelius Sedulius, and then continues with further verses focusing on Mary's purity and the divine mystery of the Incarnation. The composer musically depicts the text's journey from the conception of Christ to his birth and the adoration by heavenly hosts and shepherds.
