About Domine peccavi

Pierre de Manchicourt was a leading composer of sacred music in the Franco-Flemish tradition of the 16th century. This SATB motet, Domine peccavi, sets a text of penitence and supplication. The choir directly addresses God, confessing sins and seeking forgiveness, asking not to be lost with transgressions or have evils reserved for them eternally. Instead, they plead to be saved, trusting in God's great mercy, and promise to praise Him always. The music reflects the plea for mercy and the ultimate hope of eternal praise, embodying the profound spiritual sentiments of the Renaissance motet.
