Domine non secundum by Thomas Stoltzer — Lyrics
About Domine non secundum
Thomas Stoltzer, a composer of the German Renaissance, wrote this sacred motet for two-part choir. The Latin text is a plea for mercy and deliverance, drawing from the Psalms. It asks that God not deal with us according to our sins, but rather that His mercies quickly anticipate us, for we are become exceedingly poor. The choir is asked to aid us, O God of our salvation, and for the glory of His name, to deliver us and be merciful to our sins. The SA voicing makes this a fitting choice for smaller ensembles or younger choirs, offering a direct and heartfelt expression of penitence and hope.
