Domine Dominus noster by Hans Leo Hassler — Lyrics
In finem, pro torcularibus. Psalmus David.

About Domine Dominus noster
This grand motet for SATB choir sets a powerful Latin text from Psalm 8. It begins with the declaration 'Domine, Dominus noster' (Lord, our Lord), marveling at God's name and magnificence displayed in the heavens. The text continues, reflecting on God's creation and humanity's place within it, noting how man has been made little less than the angels and crowned with glory and honor. Hassler's setting, with its rich harmonies and dramatic scope, is well-suited for a significant liturgical occasion or a concert program requiring a robust sacred work.
