Domine Deus meus a 6

In this motet, Christoph Straus sets a prayer for divine mercy and remembrance. The text pleads with God not to turn away from his servant, nor to recall the sins of youth, especially in old age. The composer’s setting for SSATTB voices in Latin vividly captures the supplication, as the choir implores God to accept their soul in peace and to praise his mercies forever. The rich six-part texture allows for expressive contrasts, moving from moments of profound contrition to soaring declarations of eternal praise. This sacred work offers a powerful devotional experience.
