About Dominator Domine
Orlando di Lasso was one of the most prolific and influential composers of the late 16th century. His motets often display a remarkable sensitivity to the text, and Dominator Domine is no exception. This setting in Latin for SAATB voices vividly portrays the grandeur and power of God, the creator of heaven and earth. The text, which calls for God to hear the prayers of his servants, is treated with a noble and elevated style, featuring intricate polyphony and clear declamation.
