I BELIEVE IN GOD

"I Believe In God" is a vibrant, call-and-response setting of the Creed that brings a deep sense of engagement to the profession of faith. Composed by Tony Dieme, the piece transforms the traditional recitation of the articles of faith into an active dialogue. As the choir leads the verses detailing the mysteries of the Trinity, the incarnation, and the resurrection, the recurring question "Do you believe?" invites an internal—and sometimes vocal—affirmation from the congregation.

This structure makes it an excellent choice for the Credo during Sunday Mass, as well as for Baptismal rites and Easter liturgies where the renewal of baptismal promises takes place. The rhythmic drive of the solfa notation and the overlapping harmonies in the chorus give the piece a joyful, forward-moving energy. It is a wonderful way for a choir director to help the assembly declare their faith with conviction and gladness.
