About Dixerunt discipuli
The disciples, in distress, implore Saint Martin, pleading with him not to abandon them and leave them vulnerable to ravenous wolves. They understand his longing for Christ but urge him to pity them instead. Jean Louys sets this fervent Latin plea for four-part choir (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass). This sacred motet is a powerful expression of human vulnerability and faith, ideal for a cappella performance.
