About DIE MISERICORDIAE
A reflective hymn for SATB choir, Die Misericordiae is sung in English and falls within the sacred genre. The text is a plea for mercy and grace, particularly apt for services during Lent, Holy Week or at times of penitence. The choir is invited to kneel and pray, asking for the outpouring of the Spirit and a place of refuge. The lyrics draw deeply on the Passion narrative, referencing Christ's agony, his tears for Jerusalem, and his ultimate sacrifice. The music would serve well in a service setting, urging the congregation towards introspection and supplication through the voices of the choir.
