About Die heilige Dreifaltigkeit
Johannes Eccard's setting of Die heilige Dreifaltigkeit is a rich SSATTB contrafactum of the composer's own motet. The German text praises the Holy Trinity, celebrating God as one essence in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It speaks of God's eternal begetting of the Son, the procession of the Spirit, and the creator God's love shown in sending his Son and renewing life through the Spirit. The hymn declares that knowing God is the kingdom of heaven and affirms faith with Alleluias, painting a scene of joyful praise and deep theological reflection for a devout Christian community.
