Di marmo siete voi

Stefano Bernardi was a composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Di marmo siete voi is a secular madrigal for SSATB or SMsATB voices. The text, in Italian, laments the singer's unrequited love. He feels he is made of marble and unresponsive to his beloved's attacks of love, while she is equally stony and unmoved by his tears. He concludes that they are both like rocks, he steadfast in his faith and she unyielding in her pride.
