Deutsches Te Deum by Franz Bühler — Lyrics
Te Deum laudamus: te Dominum confitemur.
Te aeternum patrem, omnis terra veneratur.
Tibi omnes Angeli: tibi caeli et universae potestates.
Tibi cherubim et seraphim, incessabili voce proclamant:
"Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Patrem immensae maiestatis;
Venerandum tuum verum et unicum Filium;
Sanctum quoque Paraclitum Spiritum.
Tu rex gloriae, Christe:

About Deutsches Te Deum
Franz Bühler's Deutsches Te Deum offers a setting for SAB voices, blending Latin and German text. The music opens with a broad and sonorous declaration, leading into the familiar exultant acclamations of the Te Deum. The composer crafts a dynamic journey through the text, from the heavenly hosts praising God to the earthly church confessing the glory of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This sacred work captures the profound awe and devotion inherent in this ancient canticle, suitable for services and concerts where a rich, homophonic texture is desired.
