About Deus propitius esto

The composer Giovanni Rovetta sets a deeply personal Latin prayer for two voice parts, SA and AT. The text is a plea for divine mercy and transformation. The singer implores God to remove all that is displeasing and to infuse them with virtue, so that their entire being may be turned to God's glory. This devotional motet continues with a fervent request for the strength to die to self and worldly desires, through the love of Jesus, and to live solely for Him. The SA and AT voices would create a close and intimate texture, perfectly suited to the introspective and earnest nature of the devotional text.
