About Deus in adiutorium meum
This impressive eight-part motet sets the traditional Latin antiphon Deus in adiutorium meum intende, a plea for divine assistance. Adam Gumpelzhaimer’s setting is suitable for services from Septuagesima Sunday until Easter, when the text alternates between the customary Alleluia and the alternative response Laus tibi Domine Rex aeternae gloriae. The rich SATB.SATB voicing allows for grand, antiphonal effects, making it a powerful choice for liturgical occasions or concerts.
