Franz Danzi's partsong for SATB voices opens with a gentle depiction of spring's awakening. The music reflects the "sleeping nature" stirring as winter recedes, with its texture evoking the "scent of the path" and the "shadows growing longer." The text then shifts to a more personal address, invoking "blue-eyed Amoena" as the composer's song is heard. The changing season brings a sense of relief from winter's harshness, with the "west wind" playing around her hair. The final verse invites Amoena to search for the "first flower of spring," to be offered at Venus's shrine, crowning the memory of a poet whose song blooms eternally, much like the spring he dedicated it to.
