About Der Morgen
Robert Führer’s setting of Der Morgen opens with a sense of stillness, as the composer evokes the quiet of the dawn and the dew-kissed fields. The music gradually unfolds to mirror the rising sun, majestic and full of wonder, before blossoming into jubilant song. The STTBB voices weave together to depict the awakening of nature, with birdsong and the distant sound of bells. The text moves from the natural world to praise, culminating in a celebration of life and creation renewed after the night’s rest. This is a richly harmonized German part-song, full of warmth and optimistic energy.
