Der Jäger Abschied by Felix Mendelssohn — Lyrics

About Der Jäger Abschied
This is a stirring German partsong for TTBB voices. The text expresses a fond farewell to a beloved forest, a place of peace and reflection. The lyrics paint a picture of the hunter leaving the woods, vowing to remain true to the promises made within its quiet depths. The music surely reflects this sense of parting, with perhaps a touch of melancholy blended with resolute commitment. Mendelssohn's skill in crafting expressive vocal music is evident in this setting of a text that speaks of nature and loyalty.
