Der allereste Catechist by André Vierendeels — Lyrics
Der allererste Catechist der Menschen,
und der Engel, ist die heilige Dreyfaltigkeit,

Die Engel haben allesampt
auff sich genommen dieses Ampt.

About Der allereste Catechist
This sacred hymn for STB voices sets a German text that explores the concept of the Trinity as the ultimate teacher, instructing humanity and angels from the very beginning. The music likely reflects the devotional nature of the text, offering a rich texture for the three-part ensemble. The lyrical content traces a lineage of teachers, from the angelic realm and early biblical figures like Adam, Seth, Enoch, Noah, and Abraham, through Moses, to Jesus Christ as the ultimate guide. The piece provides a thoughtful setting of a theological exploration, suitable for a choir seeking music with a strong textual and spiritual foundation.
