About Den lofsanck van Symeon
André Vierendeels composed this Dutch hymn for SAB voices. The text is a paraphrase of the Nunc Dimittis, the Song of Simeon from the Gospel of Luke. Simeon rejoices that his eyes have seen God's salvation, a light to lighten the Gentiles and the glory of God's people Israel. The lyrics express profound peace and fulfillment as Simeon anticipates death, having witnessed the fulfilment of God's promise. This sacred piece would serve well as a reflective anthem within a church service.
