Den Heere wilt altijt loven by André Vierendeels — Lyrics
Den Heere wilt altijt loven,
al in zijn heylghen goet,
in firmament hier boven
van zijnder crachten soet,
hem danckt en prijst:
hem eer bewijst,
hem danckt en prijst in uwen moet.
Loeft hem in zijn virtuyten,
en in zijn groote cracht
van binnen, en va buyten,
hem loeft in U ghedacht.

About Den Heere wilt altijt loven
This hymn is a rousing call to praise God, suitable for a variety of sacred occasions. Sung in Dutch, the text urges continuous adoration, highlighting God’s goodness, his mighty power, and his glorious majesty. It encourages a full-hearted and constant praise, from the heart and mind, day and night. The music would likely be accompanied by references to praise through instruments such as trumpets, trombones, and harps, or through the singing of psalms, reflecting a rich tradition of congregational song. This SAB setting offers a straightforward and accessible arrangement for mixed choirs, making the message of praise easily communicable.
