About Della veloce sona
This bright and joyful Italian madrigal depicts nymphs and shepherds by the water's edge, their songs mingling with the murmuring waves. They praise love, declaring it to live in every noble heart. An echo from a nearby cave answers, amplifying their heartfelt sentiment with the repeated cry, "Long live love!" Jan Tollius’s SSATTB setting captures this celebratory mood with spirited energy. The text’s joyful exuberance is mirrored in the music, making it an ideal choice for a choir seeking a lively, attractive piece from the Renaissance madrigal tradition.
