Dekliška pesem by Zorko Prelovec — Lyrics
Kam si se zasanjala,
misel moja žalostna?
Iščeš pota k blesku zvezd,
v srcu kljuje črv bolest.
Kaj ste rosne mi oči,
na gredicah cvetja ni.
Kdaj je že dehnila smrt
v tihi moj dekliški vrt.

About Dekliška pesem
Zorko Prelovec's Dekliška pesem is a secular art song for solo soprano, sung in Slovenian. The text expresses a young woman's melancholic reflections on lost happiness and impending doom, personified by the 'worm of pain' and a 'black raven' in her heart. She laments her sorrowful thoughts and tearful eyes, finding no solace in the garden of flowers. Her yearning for the past is met with a sense of foreboding, as she questions where her dreams have led her and whether joy will ever return. This poignant piece delves into themes of lost innocence and the shadows of sorrow that can fall upon youth.
