Deep river, my home is over Jordan,
Deep river, Lord, I want to cross over into campground.
Oh, don't you want to go to that gospel feast,
That promised land. Where all is peace?

About Deep River
This arrangement of the traditional spiritual Deep River is ideal for a women's choir (SSA). Its English text speaks of the desire to cross the river Jordan and enter the peaceful 'gospel feast' of the promised land, a powerful image of spiritual yearning and hope. Hugh S. Roberton's setting captures the evocative nature of this well-known melody, offering a moving experience for both choir and congregation. It would be particularly fitting for services focusing on themes of journey, home, or deliverance, providing a moment of reflection and heartfelt expression.
