He encounters charming spots, a cozy house surrounded by fragrant flowers, and a friendly maiden with eyes as blue as a May sky. Despite the allure of rest and connection, his nature compels him ever onward through the lonely land. Ernst Wettig-Weissenborn’s setting offers a poignant musical reflection on this theme of perpetual wandering.
