De Mey komt

This delightful secular chanson captures the joyous arrival of May. The Dutch text paints a vivid picture of the season, describing the landscape being trodden, the sweet sounds of harps, lutes, viols, and flutes, and the singing of lovers venturing out. The composer, anonymous, has crafted a piece for SATB choir that reflects the pastoral and romantic sentiments of the text, ideal for a spring concert or as an elegant moment of musical pleasure. Its charm lies in its simple evocation of nature and courtship, set to a pleasing melody for mixed voices.
