Dalmarsch by Wilhelm Peterson-Berger — Lyrics

About Dalmarsch

Wilhelm Peterson-Berger's Dalmarsch is a spirited SATB setting of secular Swedish lyrics. The text paints a vivid picture of returning home, with marching to Tuna and Mora, and the joy of labor mingled with celebration. It evokes the sounds of the clarinet and the camaraderie of brothers marching together, their pockets jingling. The song also includes a call for merriment, urging a 'gloomy father' and mother to prepare for joy, and invites the 'men of the mountains' to join the dalmarsch to Siljan. This piece captures a sense of communal pride and festive homecoming.
