About Da traten die Jünger zu Jesu
Melchior Vulpius was a German composer of sacred music in the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. His motet Da traten die Jünger zu Jesu draws from the Gospel narrative where the disciples, in fear of a storm, wake Jesus. He calms the wind and sea, asking them why they have so little faith. The disciples marvel at his authority over nature. This SATB setting in German captures the dramatic moment of fear, faith, and divine power, suitable for a sacred choral tradition.
