The Italian text explores themes of death, love, and the afterlife. The lyrics describe the soul, marked by the image of its beloved, crossing the river Styx. Charon, the ferryman, is so moved by the image of the beloved that he abandons his post, convinced that such beauty could transform even Hell into Paradise. Mollica's setting vividly captures this imaginative and passionate text, bringing the allegorical journey to life through its vocal writing.
