Cum Dominus gratis

This motet for two sopranos opens with an immediate sense of joyous relief, mirroring the text's message of forgiveness. The two upper voices are woven together in imitative passages and close harmonic interplay, creating a bright and resonant sound. The composer Daniel Friderici sets a Latin text which encourages us to forgive others as we have been forgiven by God. The piece's devotional subject matter, combined with its intimate scoring for a pair of high voices, makes it a fitting choice for services or concerts where a sense of spiritual gratitude is to be expressed.
