Cual lirio purísimo — Lyrics
Spanish|Latin|
Cual lirio purísimo
en la tierra del Señor.
Suave aroma se espació
al nacer el Buen Jesús.
Eja Jesus hodie
natus est de Virgine!
Los ángeles del Señor
jubilosos cantando van.

About Cual lirio purísimo
This traditional villancico celebrates the birth of Jesus with simple, evocative imagery. The text, sung in both Spanish and Latin, paints a picture of purity, with Christ’s birth spreading a sweet fragrance like a lily. Angels rejoice with joyful songs of peace and glory. The music is ideal for a mixed-voice choir (SATB), capturing the serene yet celebratory mood of the Nativity. It is a beautiful setting of sacred text, suitable for festive occasions in the liturgical calendar, offering a moment of reflection and praise to the Divine Redeemer.
