About Crostic

This sacred set piece for STB voices is an anthem of resurrection and hope, setting stirring English words to music by Jeremiah Ingalls. The text speaks of Christ's ascension and triumph over death, encouraging believers to look beyond the grave to eternal life. It describes the call of the Redeemer to the sleeping dead, and their ultimate rising in his image. The music would be most fitting for Eastertide, or any occasion celebrating Christ's victory over the grave and the promise of eternal life for the faithful. The STB voicing, typical of early American psalmody, lends itself to a resonant and powerful delivery.
