Creator alme 2 by Anonymous — Lyrics
1. Creator alme siderum,
Aeterna lux credentium,
Jesu redemptor omnium,
Intende votis supplicum.
2. Qui daemonis ne fraudibus,
Periret orbis impetu,
Amoris actus languidi,
Mundi medelam factus est.
3. Commune qui mundi nefas,
Ut expiares ad crucem,
E virginis sacrario,
Intacta prodis victima.

About Creator alme 2
This potent setting of the ancient Latin hymn Creator alme siderum is suitable for Advent and Christmas. The text, a prayer to Christ the Redeemer, asks for protection from the devil and defence from enemies, acknowledging his divine power and ultimate judgment. The SATB voicing provides rich harmonic possibilities for this deeply devotional text. The music should reflect the solemnity of the hymn's themes, with moments of quiet supplication and resounding praise to the Trinity.
