Creator Alme by Oliver Hayes — Lyrics
1. Creator alme siderum,
Aeterna lux credentium,
Jesu redemptor omnium,
Intende votis supplicum.
2. Qui daemonis ne fraudibus,
Periret orbis impetu,
Amoris actus languidi,
Mundi medelam factus est.
3. Commune qui mundi nefas,
Ut expiares ad crucem,
E virginis sacrario,
Intacta prodis victima.

About Creator Alme
Oliver Hayes sets the familiar Latin hymn text Creator Alme Siderum for SATB choir. This ancient text, a Marian antiphon, traditionally forms part of the Divine Office and is often sung during Advent. Its verses speak of Christ as the eternal light of believers, the redeemer of all, who overcame the devil's wiles and became the world's healing through his incarnation and sacrifice. The hymn calls for divine protection from enemies, culminating in a doxology of praise to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
