Core mio bello

A delightful Italian madrigal for SATB, Core mio bello comes from the secular part-music tradition of the Renaissance. Its text speaks of a beloved heart, held in sweet fantasy, a heart that may take the singer's entire life. The music, by Antonio Scandello, likely conjures the affections of a springtime romance, or perhaps the deep intimacy of a summer's day. It would suit a concert program exploring Renaissance secular song, or a setting where a light, yet heartfelt, mood is desired. The direct address of the text, and its theme of devoted love, are perfectly captured in the rich textures of this SATB setting.
