Oratio Moysi, hominis Dei. Domine, refugium factus es nobis a generatione in generationem.
Priusquam montes fierent, aut formaretur terra et orbis,
a saeculo et usque in saeculum tu es, Deus.
Ne avertas hominem in humilitatem: et dixisti: Convertimini, filii hominum.

About Convertere Domine et deprecabilis esto
Philipp Dulichius was a composer of sacred music in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. This motet, Convertere Domine, is written for eight voices, SSAATTBB, and is set in Latin. The text is a prayer, drawing on Psalm 90 (or 89 in the Vulgate numbering) which describes God's eternal nature and humanity's transience. The music reflects the supplication of the text, as the choir implores God to turn and be merciful. The intricate eight-part writing allows for rich harmonic textures and expressive interplay between the voices, suitable for a skilled choir seeking challenging yet rewarding sacred repertoire.
