Confitebor Domino by Franz Xaver Witt — Lyrics
About Confitebor Domino
This setting of Psalm 108 is conceived for TTBB choir in Latin. The text, a imprecatory psalm, is directed towards an enemy and begins by calling on God not to remain silent. The psalmist describes the hostile actions of his adversaries, their deceitful speech, and their unwarranted hatred. He prays for divine judgment upon them, asking that their days be few and their position be taken by another, and that their families suffer misfortune. This psalm is often sung during services of penance or for occasions where a lament or prayer for justice is appropriate.
