About Concerto de pastori
Giovanni Gastoldi’s Concerto de pastori is a secular Italian madrigal for double choir (SATB.SATB). Its joyful text, celebrating the renewal of springtime and love, is matched by music of exuberant character. The interplay between the two choirs creates a rich and festive texture, echoing the pastoral setting described in the words. The composer crafts moments of delightful dialogue and harmonic richness, painting a vivid sonic picture of shepherds rejoicing in a golden age, a messenger of love and renewed pleasures.
