About Communion

This SATB setting of Communion is well-suited for the liturgical season of Eastertide, or indeed any occasion where the Eucharist is celebrated. Jacob French’s setting of this English text presents a thoughtful meditation on the sacrament, moving from anticipation of divine grace to the spiritual nourishment received. The music reflects the text’s journey from earthly experience – touching and tasting the heavenly bread and sacred cup – to the ultimate hope of appearing before God’s throne, dressed in Christ’s righteousness. The work concludes with a joyous affirmation of faith and love for Christ, exceeding any earthly pleasure. The composer brings a clear devotional spirit to this Communion text.
