About Come Holy Ghost eternal God
William Daman’s SATB setting of Come Holy Ghost eternal God opens with imitative entries, gradually building in complexity and textural richness. The composer masterfully weaves together the four voices, creating a rich and resonant sound world. The text, originally a Latin hymn, is a powerful invocation to the Holy Spirit, asking for divine inspiration, guidance, and protection. Daman’s music vividly captures the fervent plea for spiritual illumination and strength, with moments of gentle lyricism and soaring exultation. This is a stirring and devotional work, suitable for services or concerts where a profound sense of spiritual aspiration is desired.
