About WORTHY IS THE LAMB

When we prepare for Communion, we need music that draws the congregation into the mystery of the Eucharist. Jude Nnam’s "Worthy Is The Lamb" does exactly that. It is a steady, reverent piece that focuses our minds on Christ as the "True and Eternal Priest" and the ultimate sacrifice. The tempo is marked Andante Con Anima—walking pace, but with soul—which gives the choir a chance to sing with deep, measured expression without rushing the moment.

The verses are beautifully specific to the Communion rite. As the people come forward, the choir sings, "As we eat His Body which He gave for us... As we drink His blood which He poured out for us, we are washed clean." It is a direct reflection on the bread and wine we receive. The refrain then lifts up a gentle but firm declaration of praise, reminding everyone in the pews that salvation has been brought down for us.

For a choir director, this is a wonderful choice for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The vocal parts weave together smoothly, supporting a melody that feels both solemn and uplifting. It ends with a prayer for unity, asking God to help us walk in the "light of one Faith in one Communion of Love"—a perfect thought to leave with the congregation as they return to their seats.
